About Us

SpeakerHardware is a full service source for DIY speaker kits, speakers and parts to assemble truly professional looking speaker cabinets.

SpeakerHardware was started 12 years ago when my son started playing in a band.  I had been an audio professional in installation/sales in my 20’s.  One of my bosses was a DIY speaker designer who instilled in me a love of audio.  Audio had been a hobby ever since.

I decided I could build the band a PA system.  I stumbled upon the Bill Fitzmaurice designs and took the plunge building his horn loaded cabinets.  The biggest obstacle was acquiring parts.  Every site wanted to sell me 50 screws when I needed 3, or it took 3 hours to find the correct part required.  The hardware stores did not have the appropriate things for a truly professional looking cabinet.  I had owned and operated a hardware store for 20 years, so I knew how to source products, and didn’t mind counting out 5 screws for a client.

SpeakerHardware was born with about 5 pages of screws, fasteners, a bit of cabinet hardware, and some speakers, from my desk and  4 shelves behind it.

We now have a 4000sq ft shop, 3 tablesaws, more routers than I’d care to mention, and are national distributors for Eminence speakers. We now provide complete DIY speaker kits, from the plywood to the wire.

I take great pride in the offerings on this site.  I have personally built every cabinet and used every nut, bolt, screw and piece of hardware you see on here.  No other site can make that claim.  We know our products inside and out.  Using my experience building these cabinets I personally check every order, and if it doesn’t make sense, we will contact you to make sure it’s correct.

This business truly is a labor of love.  I’ve been in business for myself for over 30 years, and this is the most fun I’ve ever had.

If you’re a speaker designer drop me a line.   The criteria I look for in new designs are uniqueness, innovation, affordability, and construction quality.

Thank you for visiting SpeakerHardware.

Business is booming, and flat pack and shop built orders are once again stretching lead times. Plywood availability is an issue.
